South Coast Surf Check: 11/1

A ferocious SW wind was blowing, so we checked out a few beaches who were on the receiving end of it.

Why not start with Little Compton, Rhode Island?

We generally don't cover Rhodey, but Newport, Tiverton and the LC can pass as South Coast in a pinch.

Our hosts...

Next stop? Horseneck Beach.

We were close to high tide.

We shifted down to Gooseberry Neck.

We're always happy when a Surf Check article gets actual surfers.

This is at high tide.

If you go out on the causeway...

... you have surf on both sides of you.

I kept dry somehow.

It never hurts to have a giant boulder in your surf pic.

...or a bunch of them.

No threat to the houses today, we in fact had very fine weather. Surf Check articles are usually rainier.

This was the Leeward side.

Off to the next episode...

Fairhaven!

Fairhaven gets a lot of protection from the Vineyard.

That's why we call it "Surf Check," and not "Guaranteed Huge Waves."

Business as usual in New Bedford.
