Tentative November Opening For Bridge View Grille

A new owner will take up the reins of the former Trowbridge Tavern on Trowbridge Road. The establishment will have a new name, the Bridge View Grille.

I'd have named it something with "Tavern" in it, seeing as they have a 50 foot TAVERN sign in place that can be seen from the Bourne Bridge... but I'm not really known for my brains.

The new owner, James Hildreth of Sandwich, has some hoops to jump through before he opens. He was granted a provisional year round victualer license.

Mr. Hildreth was granted the license as the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission ponders his liquor license application. That process will take a few weeks, and he wants to have the place good to go when/if approval is granted.

Before he can open, he would need to pass inspection by the Board Of Health and the Fire Department. They don't play in Bourne.

The new restaurant is just a bit off the Bourne Bridge rotary, and is attached to the 43 room Quality Inn.

Sources say that they are aiming for a November 1st opening, if they can get all of their ducks in a row.

Mr. Hildreth would be wise to adopt the community spirit of the former owner, Mary Ellen McCarthy. Mary Ellen was one of the town's MVPs when it came to charity. Be it her Celebrity Bartender program, which donated a night of tips to charity, or hosting Cape Cod Cares For The Troops, MEM did great things for Bourne and Cape Cod.

Mr. Hildreth should also have pizza and half priced appetizers on Wednesday, I hope.... my source says pizza is a definite.
