Nor'easter To Give Season's First Snow To SE Mass

Southeastern Massachusetts gets her first real snow of the season today. We are currently under a Winter Weather Advisory.

A Nor'easter is hitting us after a very cold day. It should start as snow before turning to rain. It still counts as First Snow, however.

We are expecting a late afternoon start, and an overnight deluge. The evening commute will be treacherous.

How much snow falls, how long it takes to turn to rain and how much snow we end up with is very much up in the air, if you'll pardon the atmospheric pun.

WBZ expects an inch on the Cape and coastal South Shore that will quickly melt away in the rain. The South Coast and interior Bristol and Plymouth Counties will get 1-3" that will also wash away.

WCVB is thinking 1-2" for all of Plymouth County and 2-4" for interior Bristol County. Anywhere with a coastline gets shut out, although they give the Upper Cape a brief period of snow.

WHDH shuts out everyone but western Bristol County, who get 1-2". The coasts get a brief snowfall, then rain.

WFXT... To be frank, I watched FOX's weather with two Alabama truckers, we mostly gawked at Shiri Spear, and the forecast is thus "Damn, FOX sure knows how to hire 'em."

Winds should be quite fierce, gusting to 50 mph on the Cape. Low astronomical tides mean that this storm should pose no major coastal flooding threat.

Tomorrow morning should be rain everywhere, lasting through the morning commute.
