| With Hurricane Chris churning offshore, we decided to go down to Westport to check out the surf on the south-facing beaches. Rain was imminent, so we skipped paying Horse Neck Beach and instead shot from Gooseberry Island. |

| The surf wasn't that impressive. There were swells washing in, but the storm had already hooked east of us, and I don't think that any wave broke 2 feet in height while I was there. |

| A trip to Westport is never wasted... they have a cute harbor, and a different arrival time may have got us bigger surf, but we can only show you what the sea showed us. |

| The swells did seem to increase in size from when we showed up to when we left. Roll down there at high tide, maybe you'll have better luck. |

| We may try the Outer Cape tomorrow. |
