A sixty-one year old man, Gary Sharpless, was the victim. He was bitten on the leg and the torso, and was said to have suffered puncture wounds. He was flown to a hospital in Boston. It is said that he was responsive.
Truro had a shark attack several years ago when a man was bitten on the leg, as well as one in the 1990s. There was also a shark attack in Manomet a few years ago.
The beach was closed after the attack.
